Master studies
Anyone who has studied fine art will tell you a big part of the learning process is learning from the masters. If you haven't tried it before, it is so thought-provoking to work from a piece or style that I really love - I am quick to recommend it to myself, whenever I'm lost, stuck in a rut.
It may be unsurprising, given my love of all things classical history, that for me it is often (not always) renaissance art I focus in on - including this study of a Michelangelo fresco, which took me many months to complete.
